Dr. Edmond Wong is a board certified Family Physician. He was valedictorian of his high school class and played varsity tennis. After graduating from Princeton University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, he then completed his medical training at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Moving cross country to be close to family, he finished his residency at Northridge Family Practice Residency Program in San Fernando Valley. He was recognized for his patience and listening skills, receiving the Excellence in the Humanities Award. Dr. Wong embraces a philosophy of treating the patient as a whole and unique individual and he takes time to listen carefully. Placing great importance on the patient-doctor relationship, he encourages patients to participate in their own health care and in their medical decision-making.
Initially, Dr. Wong worked as a locum tenens physician, traveling to many areas of the country, providing much needed medical care to communities with a shortage of physicians. Afterwards, he spent 10 years practicing family medicine, urgent care and occupational medicine in Newport Beach/Irvine, followed by 10 years in Long Beach and in the South Bay. He has volunteered on medical mission to Uganda and provided disaster relief with Samaritan’s Purse. As much as he enjoys traveling, Dr. Wong is glad to return to Newport Beach to join Forman Family Medicine.
Dr. Wong grew up in New Jersey, but he now considers Southern California home. Passionate about outdoor activities, he loves skiing, tennis and fishing. He and his wife, Sheila, met skiing at Mammoth. They enjoy serving at their church and spending time outdoors, camping and hiking.
